We are an original character post-apocalyptic forum role-play site
set in the universe of Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead.

Because we value originality and creativity, cannon characters are unavailable for play. They get their time to shine, now it's yours. We know you will be able to establish a character worthy of being chronicled in the history books of this new dystopia.

Role-playing anywhere in the Former United States is encouraged. We have designed this forum to be expanded, shaped and molded directly by the players themselves. This is your country now.

There were days when one missed the old life of luxury and leisure. Champagne on the patio in the early morning, enjoying the sunrise and not having a worry for the hour. With the occasional mention of a clients payments being late and having to deal with them personally; Mr. Gold always enjoyed having that 'personal' relationship with every client, rather than sending the next meat head to beat the money out of them, he relaxed in retrieving it himself, strengthening the bond between his clientele and himself. This day was felt appropriately well, with those memories looming in his head, he felt like destiny was about to intervene with him in an unusual way.

The morning light was beginning to move overhead as his caravan was setting out to another encampment for the man to begin another trade with another survivor group. Supplies for supplies, or food, or sometimes even hired protection depending on the circumstances. It was a small caravan, only six men, two wagons of non-perishables and other goods, and himself. Mr. Gold rode his black stallion in the middle of his caravan; Being a wise leader, he kept their distance with each other spacious but with room to control them.

They rode down the highway passing several small towns that had been abandoned for a long time now. They had passed the turn to a small town called Nunez several miles back, preferably because Mr. Gold had his orders to stay away from that town until the 'time' was right. His partner had some devious plans for that group, a vile history that Mr. Gold didn't care to bring his mind towards their existence.

So, for the time being, he was headed north to find either some new settlements or some place abandoned where he could resupply his stock. It wasn't inexplicably low, but he could always had more. The thought almost made him want to gag; The man who had everything was now riding on horseback through the dirty streets for something 'more', the vile idea.

He stopped his crew when he heard the sound of someone coming towards them. Having his guards gunpoint ready, he aimed them towards the noise and waited for the lost soul to come forth; Come out, Dearie, I know you're there, he invited his unexpected guest.

• ALL THE VOICES IN MY HEAD, WILL BE QUIET WHEN I'M DEAD

Mr. Gold, through some hardships, has made himself a tradesman in these dark times. He has gathered himself a small caravan and makes his business to trade supplies between the other groups. Making himself a connection between them, he basically takes the risk for them. That being said, he does ask for a bigger reward; and money is not an option anymore. I thought that might make for some good conflict. if a group needs certain supplies, they can hire Mr. Gold and his henchman with only a couple of their own to lower the risk of anyone of their own losing their lives. Of course, if Gold loses one of his men his price will go up and he may ask for one of your own. Anyone can also come of their own free will as well, if anyone wants to leave but they don't want to go out on their own.

• I SAID YOU COULD CALL, I DIDN'T SAY I'D ANSWER

Mr. Gold doesn't have friends, he has customers, or associates, or those who have come into his debt. Not many can say they would even care to fall into this category as he is not one for graceful socializing. If Mr. Gold is coming to talk to you, it's generally about a debt, or favor, that you owe him.

•NEVER ON A FIRST DATE, HEY DEARIE?

Even fewer have come to be in that special place in his heart. In fact only two have made a permanent residence here, and one of them is his son whom he's searching for. Another reason Mr. Gold travels to other groups, he is searching for his loved ones with whom he lost before and and after the zombie apocalypse.

• BUT I'M A VILLAIN AND VILLAIN'S DON'T GET HAPPY ENDINGS

This will probably be largest of the three groups as Mr. Gold tends to make enemies more than friends. Though generally his enemies are those who owe him something but aren't able to pay it and are now in his debt. Mr. Gold is completely heartless when it comes to dealing with people, but he always gets the job done one way or another; it helps that people never know what they truly want. Mr. Gold also works for Norman and his Society as his Spymaster and Field Lieutenant; Collecting information and gaining allies for their group.

OVERALL:

Medium-length hair with a streak of gray down the front. He has golden-hued brown eyes that reflect the evil in his heart. A darkness has formed in his heart from experiences he has had to bear in his life. He wears a dark suit that reflects that darkness, as well as being comfortable too. His skin is like gold, tanned from both natural and artificial light. He keeps himself well groomed for work, having to keep up appearances for his clientele. Nowadays, he still maintains his appearance at the top of his standards. Though, his fingernails have become shriveled and gold, like him. He gives off the 'shark in a fishtank' vibe with the look of a peddler, in a suit.

Whenever Mr. Gold walks in a room, his presence becomes known simply by the confidence he gives off. He is a man of fear and resentment which are two of the first qualities one thinks of when they come across him before saying a word. He speaks in both a respectable and belittling way, as if you were being judged by the very words you chose to use in the conversation you were having with him.

The gold that shines in his hair to the rings he wears on his hands personifies the vast wealth he once had. The gold that glimmers in his teeth exemplifies how evil he truly is. Mr. Gold, not being a trusting man, has used his money to melt his own gold bars and had them tattooed upon his body. So no matter how bad the world has turned, Mr. Gold is still the wealthiest in the whole world.

PERSONALITY

Almost every small town has a wealthy resident whose influence seems to know no limit. In Salem, that guy is Mr. Gold. From real estate to politics and even into the personal lives of his neighbors, Gold’s knowledge and involvement is virtually infinite. In fact, he’s got his hands in so many goings-on about town that it’s downright creepy. According to the local Innkeeper, Gold “owns the town”. A number of the citizens of Salem actually appear to be more intimidated by him than they would be of the walking dead.

Gold also owns and operates the local pawnshop, where he spends most of his days curating the various items he has collected over the years and making deals with the townsfolk. Always cool and attired with a cosmopolitan sartorial flair, Mr. Gold exudes the kind of confidence that only comes from knowing you are the master of your domain. Mr. Gold is a man of many professions and he plays to the worst stereotypes about all of them: he's a pawnbroker who often shades into being a Loan Shark, a heartless landlord who evicts his tenants at the slightest opportunity, and an Amoral Attorney who conspires against his own clients.

So far, he has never actually told a lie. Granted, he may have said something that is "technically" true, for certain values of "true", but not once has he told an outright lie. He even tried to work his way out of a deal by technically not lying with each response until the close of every loophole with follow up questions leaving him with the final choice of lying or speaking the truth. He picks the truth, though.

    • Smooth Talker - Mr. Gold knows how to persuade, or intimidate, anyone to get what he wants.
    • Natural Leader - Being in control of the mafia has proven to be a success for him.
    • Good Shot - He knows how to handle a gun; more importantly, how to use it to his advantage.
    • Affably Evil - He may be playing your deal for his own gain or just abuse the heck out of you, but he will generally do it with a laugh and smile. When he doesn't have one on, it generally isn't too good.
    • Bad Samaritan - His whole shtick. If you need help, he'll be there for you. And at some future point, you'll wish he hadn't been as he will always call you back to return the favor.
    • Long-Term Thinker - When Mr. Gold makes a deal, he is thinking about the outcomes long before the contract is signed. A negotiation must have two parties who have some interest in it.

In Rupert's young age, his father was branded a coward and he was left to be raised by spinsters. When he becomes a man, he marries a woman named Maya, and together they live in Salem, Massachusetts owning and operating a small pawn shop. Some years later, He gets drafted to the war; excited to prove himself and show that he is not the coward his father was. However, in camp, the prisoner he is assigned to watch over as his first task speaks of a horrible plan that would wipe out the whole battalion, and would gladly exchange this information for a glass of water. He tells young Rupert that their actions on the battlefield will leave his son fatherless. Skeptical at first, Rupert eventually believes what he says and intentionally injures himself, so that he can get out of the war and be with his pregnant wife. Maya does not believe he would do such a thing, and is disgusted with his cowardice.

She argues it would have been much more honorable for him to die and for their son to have a dead father that fought in the war. As the years pass, Maya grows more and more disillusioned and unhappy with the life she has with Rupert. So goes and she drinks and gambles at the local bar. One morning, Maya disappears and Rupert finds a note explaining of her leaving and why. Rupert attempts to "rescue" her but is forced to return home to Nicholas and tells him that his mother has gone. When his son becomes drafted in yet another war, Rupert and his son flee from town, only to be found and advised by a local farmer. After their leave of the farmer, Rupert and Nicholas are approached by a mysterious old man who offers them help in exchange for a small amount of food and company.

After listening to Rupert's story, the old man tries to inspire him to find another way to save his son, but Rupert is adamant that the only real choice is to run away. Knowing that Rupert cannot run forever, the old man offers him a more complete solution to his problems. He informs him that a mob boss who controls the area can help him. The 'GodFather', in turn, uses his Influence to help him hide from the war. As such, If Rupert is to gain the help of the mafia, he is to work for them for an indefinite amount of time. Thus, he could protect Nicholas from dying in the war. Convinced that he has no other choice, Rupert agrees to his terms setting fire to his own house during the night. After the fact, Rupert, now with more power than he ever dreamed, returns home to humiliate and gain control of his hometown, all while raising his son, in horror, as his father relished in their suffering.

When Nicholas asks his father of the cause for his actions, Rupert states that he had simply protected what belonged to him; thus beginning his reign of terror. Eager to fulfill his promise, Rupert puts his newfound powers to use by influencing an end to the war in congress and brokering a truce between the warring parties. However, while this good deed brings Rupert reverence and respect, the powers he's gained through the mafia, finding himself as a new godfather, have corrupted his mind, causing him to continually hurt people and seek more power for fear that he would not be able to protect Nicholas from his enemies otherwise. As public opinion of him turns from reverence into fear, allowing Rupert to become a wealthy and powerful individual who terrifies those around him, much to the distaste of his son, who believes that his father would not need so much power to protect him if he simply did not have any.

Rupert knows this is not an option, as the only way he knows he could be rid of this power would be if someone killed him. Wanting things to return to the way they were before, Nicholas offers his own deal to his father — if Nicholas is able to find a way for Rupert to give up his power without dying in the process, Rupert must do so. With this goal in mind, Nicholas seeks out a way to do so. However, when the time comes to follow through with Nicholas's plan, Rupert reverts to his former personality. Not wanting to give up the influence he had garnered as the Godfather, Rupert clings on to life, abandoning Nicholas in the process. In their last moments together, Nicholas calls his father a coward and walks out of his father's life.

A few weeks after he lost his son, The world went to shit. Mr. Gold was in his limo headed to another one of his meetings with a client of his when traffic seemed to stop abruptly. He sent one of his guards to check the situation ahead. The man had come back in a panic and they all, Gold and six of his men, ran back to his house where they held out for the first couple of weeks. Now, through dedication and triumph, he holds a good trade route down the east coast working with several survivor encampments being a middle man of sorts to allow them to survive together.
